Aribo will be a huge loss, you will struggle to find a player that can play left back, CM, AM, RF and ST like the big man.

That being said, if he isn't going to sign an extension then we need to take the 10m (even though he is worth double).

We need to use the money and put it towards a RF and a AM.
He will but thems the breaks .

£10m is still too low, but if he has that clause in his contract, there is little to be done.

No way on this earth we can afford to let him walk away for nothing.

Better to get the Aribo deal done early if he is not signing a new deal, hopefully it frees up funds to get a good quality RW and a replacement attacking midfielder

Cant see Southampton messing about with the fee, it is peanuts to them and other teams are interested

According to The Athletic

"Aribo is known to have thoroughly enjoyed his time at Rangers and while his preference is a move south of the border and to play Premier League football, he wants the situation to be dealt with amicably.
The former Charlton Athletic player was scheduled to meet up with the rest of the Rangers squad in Portugal on Thursday but he is currently in London."

This only gets messy if Southampton play funny buggers. Hopefully they pay the release fee everyone wins. Would hate for Aribo's time to end sourly.
Sounds to me like he wants us to get a fair deal as well though. It's not as if he is going to spit the dummy and lead Southampton to play dirty.

That release clause is shockingly low, no matter how long was left on his deal. Continually under value our own players, whilst the Manks seem to get over the odds for everyone they sell.

With Patterson recently and Aribo now probably leaving that’s what, £25m(ish) brought in for 2 players who cost us next to nothing. This is what we need to start working towards. It’ll be a shame to see him go, he has absolutely sublime moments and his Europa goal will always be a highlight for us, however we can’t keep a hold of everyone forever. Hopefully he does brilliantly down there and shows the EPL the quality we have, and it kick starts some transfer movement on our end.

Love the big guy, but getting players in for decent money, getting some great performances off and silverware with them, selling them on for big profits, then rinse and repeat is what we need to get into the regular habit of to move forward as a club.

Aribo for £10m is a steal but from what I gather that was a condition in his deal that his agent brokered.

With one year left, his market value was probably closer to £15m but we can’t complain. This is the beginning of the player trading model.

We now have a clear pathway to the EPL than we show to potential signings. Patterson to Everton and Aribo to Southampton.

Even at £10m, you lose a key player but you can bring in three quality players for that £10m if you spend wisely. Colak eats into £1.8m of that then you have £8m for two to three players.

I’d be expecting a right winger and an attacking midfielder even more so now Aribo is gone.

Hmm. I wonder how much we accept - 8m, for example?

Obviously the aim is the 10m. But we also need to plan for our squad. We can’t allow this to drag on too long.
Not a penny less. I'm gutted we have a release clause as that is a real bargain for clubs like Southampton. A no brainer of a signing.

That first paragraph sums the big guy up.

Class man & class footballer.

Be gutted to lose big Joe, a lovely player to watch and have thoroughly enjoyed having him here. However...he quite often didn't turn up on the big occasion (certainly against the mhanks) obvious exception aside, and what a shitey move (not a bad club just...a nothing club) to leave Rangers for. He'll be bored playing there, atmosphere of a library. He obviously considers it a stepping stone type move.

Edouard went for less in the last year of his.

You're not getting more than 10m for any player in the last year of their contract in Scotland.

£10M is still a lot if money to us.

Use a chunk of it to replace Aribo & sign another priority position such as RW or ST.
It is absalutely nowhere near what that boy is worth.
Yes it’s the last year of his contract but we’re getting mugged no matter what anyone says.

I’m sure the club will be keen to announce a couple of new players before Aribo is confirmed as gone

Can’t complain about £10 million for a player with a year left. Let’s just hope this starts the Influx of Dutch superstars heading our way

Some folk will probably lose their rag over "only £10m" but given who we signed him from, what level we signed him from, how much we signed him for and what level of return we've got from him, £10m with 12 months left is a pretty good deal overall.

Celtic got £7m from the same club for Stuart Armstrong at the same age and with the same length of contract left.

Bought for about 500k sold for 10m and we have had our money’s worth great business but don’t allow these clauses anymore please.
We probably don’t sign players like Aribo that often if we refuse to set up those type of deals.

It’s been a good decision and it’s something we regularly do well, take a risk on a lower fee for a player in the future if we feel they’ll contribute the same or more on the park in the meantime.

It’s David Ornstein’s story mate. Not to sure what Jordan Campbell had to do with it.
Didn't he write a big article maybe a month ago about how Rangers had the money for 1 starter? Was shot down in flames on here saying he knows nothing.

How slow our transfer business is shows he was probably bang on the money.

It is what it is, last year of his deal and he obviously isn't signing a new one.

Southampton effectively have us by he balls.

The real talking point should be how we've allowed Aribo, Morelos & Kents contract situations to get to this point.

All 3 should have been dealt with 6 months- a year ago.
