They have a bigger re-build than we do.

We already have a better keeper, 2 excellent full backs and CH cover + I expect at least 3 or 4 of those players to extend their contracts. If not we sell to the highest bidder and let Gio bring in his Dutch / continental replacements. Maybe I'm a glass half full guy, but i feel pretty upbeat, despite not getting the win we deserved, against a rested and full strength filth team.
Sorry to take exception to your comment on a better keeper than them,it's Shagger who has cost us at least 8 points in 3 games that I have been at and much as he has been a hero to me for years he still needs replaced.

I hope they sign Carter-Vickers cos I think he's a big fucking pudding

Starfelt and vickers against a refreshed rangers front line sounds good to me

Sakala gave him a torrid time 2nd half.

He is very dominant though so he suits the general long ball tripe teams play against them here.

Will be ripped to pieces in Europe

No way are they spending another 30million

Hasnt it been said the Europa league brings around 17 million and champions league 30

They are not great but we will most likely lose goldson, arfield, mcgregor, diallo and ramsey will go back to their clubs and wouldnt be surprised if the likes of barisic, davis and ittem go aswell

Not a chance. They've done the vast majority of their rebuild in the last two windows.

By my count we probably need minimum 7 new starters next season.
If they can’t secure Jota and the chubby centre half then they do have to replace them.

According to some Twitter accounts I seen earlier in the week, the ccv deal is 6 million rising to 10 which is a hell of a lot of money. He’s a good player but I think he suits the domestic game up here more than European so would be ideal if they didn’t pay that.

Jota has been good for them but it is surprising they haven’t bought one of them already. Wouldn’t surprise me if jota wanted to try his arm to get back into the Benfica team.

GVB needs to be put in sole charge of identifying players in the summer. He needs to build the team around his vision of the system he wants to play next season and not Ross Wilson's.

On the playing side depending on who departs this summer I think we could be looking at maybe needing five or six new first team players and several squad additions.

The other lot signed something like 16 players over two windows so I can't see them going out and making huge changes this summer.

On paper right now we probably have a far bigger task on our hands, especially with CL qualifying early in the season.

Assessing potential players is a full time job requiring data analysis, background checks, etc,. its a specialist job these days. GVB doesn't have the time or focus, but he needs to be consulted and agree with signings.

I think they are a reasonable team. Their tactics will work well against teams where they have significantly more resources. However, against us and in Europe at best you describe their approach as naive. There is a reason why very good teams don’t attempt to play at 100mph for 90 mins and why you don’t constantly chase lost causes at the top level. You will get picked apart.

A couple of good signings to refresh and add quality and we will win 56 next year.

Frustrating that we're going to lose this league to a bang average filth team, but I'm confident we'll go on to dominate next season.

They don't own their 2 best players (Jotta + CCV) and the rest of their squad is mediocre. Those 2 will cost them their transfer budget if they even want to be there, and they've still got garbage like Barkas and McCarthy on their books, eating up their salary budget.

The Japanese are blowing out their arses and Gio has them sussed tactically. Back Gio in the summer transfer window and I'm feeling pretty confident that we'll be back on top. We have by far the better squad already.

Chins up and on to making history Thursday Rangers. WATP.
They have spent £25 million this season ,they will probably spend the same this
summer. We will bring in £30 odd million in transfer fees this summer but how much Gio will get is anyone's guess We have Goldson, Balogun,Aribo,Morelos, Kent,Kamara ,Arfield,Katic, most likely leaving this summer ,so we have a bit of a rebuild ourselves.

That wee Mcarthy most be on a wedge as well

He’s supposedly the reason Dominic McKay got sacked as he signed off a 4 year deal on £40,000 a week as a free transfer for him, I heard when he went to play for R.Ireland that some senior players had a meeting with the management to tell them he wasn’t good enough to play for them.

I do agree, but let’s also get some perspective

Last season they had to replace Edouard, Ajer, Brown, Christie, Ntcham etc. Much bigger task than this year

They went on to win the league. A lot can happen over a summer & January window

Truth is we have no idea what Celtic will look like next season. Best focus on ourselves

When did they win the league?

Not sure about that, we could be looking at a 10 in 10 out scenario

It is time for Wilson to prove his worth

Those sort of numbers get me excited ;)

We have stood still and gave a team in turmoil 40 mil and they are pish.

Ragin how this has turned out. The board have to answer for this

I like your optimism but we’re going to have to at the very least replace Goldson, Arfield & Davis who are all out of contract.

We need a new #1 Goalkeeper or at least a capable understudy.

Then there is the expiring contracts the following year of Morelos, Kent, Aribo which may force us into selling this summer.

Any players we receive bids for that match the clubs valuation will need to be replaced.

Our rebuild is massive & we really could’ve used the guaranteed Champions league cash.

They do but they will know in a couple of games what their budget is.
We will most likely need to negotiate qualifiers before we really know what we can spend. We can't feck about this year.

I like your wishful thinking. I don't agree with it, but I like it nonetheless.

Like it or not, they'll have some money for a rebuild, we don't.

And it's all down to us.

They will have money to spend but they also have a lot of bang average players on good money that they need to try and shift but will struggle to like Ajeti, Forrest, McCarthy, boli, soro, barkas, Jullien etc ..

I don’t agree with the OP. However I do agree that they need to spend about £20m just to field the same team next season. We are likely to come second with 89 ish points and then with 95 I think. Neither team is as poor as the opposite fans want to believe.

however we’re sitting on approaching £30m from EL and ticket sales by my count and have cash from Gerrard and Patterson going. You have to imagine we will bring in around £15m in sales in the summer as well.

we have a rebuild but it’s definitely doable that we could be in a good place this time next year.

They won’t spend it on big money players though. They’ll use it to hold onto their current squad and to balance their books. That’s what they’ve always done. I honestly don’t see the champions league money being as big a difference maker as the media make it out to be.
Totally need half of it to keep basically same team .

Not as long as the have Clancy and Co!

And it's all down to us.

We'll be selling if Kent, Alfie and Aribo don't sign extensions, so I expect Gio to be given funds.
We'll also have some wages freed up.
I expect we'll have some exciting talent lined up from the continent, and wouldn't underestimate the pulling power that our European run will have generated. I'm looking forward to seeing what Gio csn achieve with his own signings.

We can reach the CL too.

Regardless of the agreed transfer fees they can only buy them if they want to sign. If CCV gets an EPL move I can see him taking it and if Jota gets his chance in Portugal again I can see him staying there.

I hate this idea we have just given up on the champions league! We have two further chances to make it. 180 minutes of football to win the europa league and we go straight in. That’s a huge ask but if we lose then we get a final chance to qualify! And from what we’ve seen is there many teams you wouldn’t take us over 2 games to qualify?

And we have 4 or 5 entering their final year & I'd be surprised of we managed to keep all of them.

Said earlier in the thread, still think the ins and outs quantity wise will be higher with us..
