What’s the story with Shane Duffy? (All Duffy posts in here)

Flying in to an English airport doesn't make you exempt from Scottish quarantine rules as nippy was all too keen to keep reminding us in the summer
Before 4am this morning it wasn't a legal requirement to isolate, they just asked people to do so without anything obliging them to do so. Celtic will hide behind that and say "he didn't technically need to isolate, it was only a request".

Yes they are. It was back dated for anyone who flew in before that date after January 3rd or whatever it was. You can check the news release.

Duffy not flying here may be the get out

No. Anybody who arrived from the 3rd is "asked to" not legally obliged to.

Anyway I dont know why I'm wasting my time arguing.

Madness how he's been able to play. As others have said re Zungu. Then there's Jones and Edmondson handed a 7 game ban for bursting the bubble. Absolutely stinks.

Have you ever thought they might be trying to pee the government off and this is another v sign to them?

They do have the power to stop football.
As much as it would 'save the ten', the cost to Celtic of the season being cancelled by fans claiming refunds on season tickets and lost TV money would be too big. Besides, the SPFL will have to nominate someone for the CL qualifiers after summer so there will have to be some kind of 'sporting' resolution to the league.

They may be trying to create as much disruption as possible to put us in a position where we have a lot of games to play late in the season. There's even an off-chance they're trying to put the government in a position where they ban international travel for elite sports as that would mean the end of our European campaign. However, the simplest explanation to all of this is that they feel like they're above the rules and are just doing whatever they want and relying on the SPFL/SFA not prosecuting them. Duffy is playing tonight because they had no other senior options for centre back and they think they can get away with it.

Just because he provided a negative today does not mean he can play. He’s definitely ineligible. I’m sure Hibs will pick up on this.
You have to isolate before joining a bubble. I sure the boxers needed to do this at Sky’s recent fight camp series, at Hearns place

Jones and Edmundson's 7 game ban took effect after they had completed a 14 day isolation period.

Obviously the situation is a little different as Jones and Edmundson attended a private party that was a gathering larger than was allowed by Scottish Government regulations at the time, as well as breaching the Elite Sports bubble.

However, Duffy has also breached the bubble (for a legitimate reason), therefore should be made to isolate until he can be absolutely sure that he does not have the virus. A negative test 7 days after travel is not enough.

We need confirmation from the governing bodies that he was eligible.

As far as I can see, he's ineligible and Celtic should be made to forefeit the game, but that would require the authorities to actually penalise Celtic.
No doubt they’ll have checked with their best pals at the spfl that they have an answer for this before they’ve played him. %^*& knows what it’ll be though.

Maybe Shane Duffy has outmutanted the virus and is unable to be infected.

Remember the almighty stink they kicked up in October with Ryan Christie ?

"But he's pyoor tested negative!"

Why's Duffy any different ? If he tests positive later this week all hell will break loose.
Christie was a close contact of Armstrong who'd tested positive so it is different to Duffy, unless Duffy was identified as a close contact of Julien.

Duffy is ineligible as he should be quarantining after retuning on a public flight from a hotspot.

The donkey arrived back in London on 5th January he should be self-isolating until the 15th

SCOT GOVERNMENT ADVICE:
From 04:00 Monday 11 January 2021, all arrivals from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) will be required to self-isolate on arrival. In addition, those passengers that have travelled back to Scotland from Dubai since 3 January 2021 are also being asked to isolate for 10 days, from the date they arrived back in the country.

Self-isolation
You must self-isolate for 10 full days if you arrive in Scotland from a country outside the Common Travel Area (UK, Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). This is to protect against the risk of imported cases of coronavirus.

Self-isolation rules apply to all travel to Scotland, by train, ferry, coach, air or any other route. It also applies regardless of how you have arrived in Scotland – directly or via another part of the UK

"Being asked" - nothing they can do to enforce it if you arrived before 4am today.

Well that's when the rules around the elite sports bubble come into play. Zungu was in quarantine for 14 days after traveling on a public flight, despite coming from another elite sports bubble. Jones and Edmundson both quarantined for 14 days after leaving the bubble. And their suspensions didn't kick in until after they'd completed quarantine.

Are Rangers being extremely conservative with our reading of the rules, or are we getting different advice from the governing bodies?

This sudden notion on here of ‘being asked’ equating to ‘not compulsory’. Its a very liberal interpretation of the entire document / article.

Why then was there hype on whether the entire Celtic squad needed quarantine when it was announced with numerous media people checking they had elite sport exemption.

So Boydy read out a Celtic statement, issued when Duffy left Dubai that said he had family issues to deal with and would be ineligible for the Hibs game due to leaving their bubble! So how does he become available, and should Hibs be asking questions? Great pass from him to make it 1-1 but a 0-3 Hibs award would be even sweeter.....almost Cherry on the Top stuff!!! lol
