Ah, hadn't heard that before. Our Founders were only teenagers when they formed Rangers. They were of slender build but had managed to master the art of moving the ball quickly between themselves, they were affectionately known as “ the light and speedie” through time that changed to “the light blues” a tag which stuck.
You are correct, our jersey has always been royal blue.
Be that as it may, but still annoys me .Man City are sky blue, not light blue.
This is mentioned on the gallant pioneers book iircOur Founders were only teenagers when they formed Rangers. They were of slender build but had managed to master the art of moving the ball quickly between themselves, they were affectionately known as “ the light and speedie” through time that changed to “the light blues” a tag which stuck.

We're were always the light blues officially going back to the 1960s.I'm pretty sure as Dundee were the dark blues - Probably a pile of pish mind you
The reasoning above about us being the "light and speedy blues" is quite a nice reason, I feel.Be that as it may, but still annoys me .
When up and running again those who haven't been, should get themselves on the tremendous founders trail and these and many more questions will be answered for them. Our Founders were only teenagers when they formed Rangers. They were of slender build but had managed to master the art of moving the ball quickly between themselves, they were affectionately known as “ the light and speedie” through time that changed to “the light blues” a tag which stuck.

I definitely will when things get back to " normal ".Get yerself on The Founders Trail and hear all about it, and more.
I used to think this but Man City are sky blues. I think Chelsea get called royal blues so you would think we would too. It’s probably to do with some anti British bigotry As above. Our strip colour is and always has been royal blue. Light blue is the likes of Man City.
No you’re correct broI'm pretty sure as Dundee were the dark blues - Probably a pile of pish mind you
Correct answer. Light and speedie blues. Nothing to do with shirt colour. Confused me when I was a kid until I heard the reason. Our Founders were only teenagers when they formed Rangers. They were of slender build but had managed to master the art of moving the ball quickly between themselves, they were affectionately known as “ the light and speedie” through time that changed to “the light blues” a tag which stuck.

LIGHT AND SPEEDY BLUES.Hello Hello, how do you do,

You are correct, our jersey has always been royal blue.
As above. Our strip colour is and always has been royal blue. Light blue is the likes of Man City.
Certainly over more recent times that’s been more of a manufacturing problem. We’ve had at least five different shades of blue. The top we wore during the helicopter Sunday season was hideous. No it hasn't.
From the 60s onwards the strip has become darker.
