This post is completely pointless without details. I could have made that up.Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
I must have missed this particular detail? Who said this?Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
What players have said this?Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
Souness left us with about 4 games to go in a very close league season. Gerrard left before a cup semi.Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month

None. Because its a lie. What players have said this?
Ok who said this?Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
I do not remember bitterness toward Souness.Souness left us with about 4 games to go in a very close league season. Gerrard left before a cup semi.
I remember the Souness departure very well, the bitterness around Gerrard is nowhere near how people felt towards Souness and what he did.
We all mellow with time and Souness is now back to hero status, Gerrard will get the same.
To be fair, Souness left us with only three games of the season remaining and a title that still had to be won.Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
I was young at the time but didn't Souness want to stay until the end of the season but Murray told him no and that he was leaving right away?Souness left us with about 4 games to go in a very close league season. Gerrard left before a cup semi.

Neither did GerrardSouness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
There was a lot of bitterness towards him at the time.I do not remember bitterness toward Souness.
He left for the one club we knew he would.
He also offered to stay and see the season out.
He left a succession plan behind and a very able one at that.
Neither did Gerrard, however Gerrard is responsible for stopping 10iar,an invincible season, our best ever points total in a league season and restoring our pride in Europe.Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
I remember the entire stadium booing him as he walked out to manage the ‘old’ Rangers team in Scott Nisbet’s testimonial, which must have been about 5 years after he left.I do not remember bitterness toward Souness.
He left for the one club we knew he would.
He also offered to stay and see the season out.
He left a succession plan behind and a very able one at that.
If your heart isn’t in it, your heart isn’t in it. I think we saw that with Gerrard this season as well.I was young at the time but didn't Souness want to stay until the end of the season but Murray told him no and that he was leaving right away?
As the poster said perhaps time is a healer , only feeling I remember was one of panic after losing 3-0 at Motherwell in the penultimate game. There was a lot of bitterness towards him at the time.
In the absence of you having a memory, id like to confirm there was plenty of bitterness towards GS and it lasted decades.I do not remember bitterness toward Souness.

Agreed. If your heart isn’t in it, your heart isn’t in it. I think we saw that with Gerrard this season as well.
I do have a memory and I already covered the point but hey fill your boots. In the absence of you having a memory, id like to confirm there was plenty of bitterness towards GS and it lasted decades.
First part of the post is factually incorrect, safe to say the second part is too?Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
There's next to nothing that suggests that isn't people doing 2+2 and getting 5.I’ve heard rumours that Gerrard was absent a lot this season too hence the lack of Training Videos.
That’s all they are though and that’s all they ever will be. Nobody will thrown him under the bus.
Souness also never left us right before a cup final and having players now openly telling people that the manager wasn’t present at training for a month
That late Motherwell goal that meant we had to win rather than draw.As the poster said perhaps time is a healer , only feeling I remember was one of panic after losing 3-0 at Motherwell in the penultimate game.
I'm sure Andy Halliday said on superscoreboard he didn't take training much which I thought was bizarre as they always had videos of Gerrard up making passes and scoring in trainingI’ve heard rumours that Gerrard was absent a lot this season too hence the lack of Training Videos.
That’s all they are though and that’s all they ever will be. Nobody will thrown him under the bus.
We’d all know if he missed training, so that’s pretty much bollocks - he wasn’t around as much with the team in situations like nights before games like before though iv heard and that’s backed up with him posting vids and pics on instagram the day before away games of him with his familyI’ve heard rumours that Gerrard was absent a lot this season too hence the lack of Training Videos.
That’s all they are though and that’s all they ever will be. Nobody will thrown him under the bus.
Perhaps the fact he left for the only club he ever would and not jumped ship at the first opportunity has helped peoples understanding. That late Motherwell goal that meant we had to win rather than draw.
The passage of time is now kind to Souness, the majority felt betrayed, a small percentage blamed the SFA for running him out of Scottish football.

Trying to compare souness to gerrard is some mental gymnasticsPerhaps the fact he left for the only club he ever and not jumped ship at the first opportunity has helped peoples understanding.
He left us in the capable hands of the one and only Walter Smith. There was plenty bitterness towards Souness.
What succession plan are you talking about?
Gerrard left us with no one , we don’t need 30 years of hindsight for that.He left us in the capable hands of the one and only Walter Smith.
No one knew that at the time though. You can’t use 30 years worth of hindsight ffs.
Some are re writing history.Perhaps the fact he left for the only club he ever and not jumped ship at the first opportunity has helped peoples understanding.
That’s true.Gerrard left us with no one , we don’t need 30 years of hindsight for that.
At the time it was still a significant risk.He left us in the capable hands of the one and only Walter Smith.
He tried to convince Walter to go with him, Walter Smith left us in the capable hands of Walter Smith not Graeme Souness. He left us in the capable hands of the one and only Walter Smith.
In what respect ?Some are re writing history.
I’m sure he did and I’m equally sure he knew Walter well enough to know the outcome. He tried to convince Walter to go with him, Walter Smith left us in the capable hands of Walter Smith not Graeme Souness.
It doesn’t he left for the club he’d player for most of his career a club dear to his heart , Gerrard left for Aston Villa. That’s true.
But it doesn’t take away what happened with Souness.
So that equates in your mind that his succession plan was to ask Walter to leave knowing that he wouldn't.I’m sure he did and I’m equally sure he knew Walter well enough to know the outcome.
He left us with whoever David Murray would chooseHe left us in the capable hands of the one and only Walter Smith.
And? Both ultimately left for career reasons. It doesn’t he left for the club he’d player for most of his career a club dear to his heart , Gerrard left for Aston Villa.
This is spot on, there was a lot of anger towards souness at that first game and remember he offered to see the season outSouness left us with about 4 games to go in a very close league season. Gerrard left before a cup semi.
I remember the Souness departure very well, the bitterness around Gerrard is nowhere near how people felt towards Souness and what he did.

Murray chose Walter and the rest is history. He left us with whoever David Murray would choose
Front page of FF fanzine with the headline “shoot souness win a metro”I do not remember bitterness toward Souness.
He left for the one club we knew he would.
He also offered to stay and see the season out.
He left a succession plan behind and a very able one at that.
