Yeh that can’t be allowed to happen.
He either extends or gets sold.
Your 100% correct but he could decide to see out his contract and make himself more attractive to clubs who wont need to pay a fee. I obviously hope it doesn’t happen but just a feeling i have

He won’t be leaving on a free.

We will either cash in the summer or he will extend.

We have learned from Goldson .
What have we learned tho? We offered goldson a deal and he knocked it back, whats to say the same doesn’t happen with him? As iv just said on another post i hope im wrong but people seem to be making out as if alfie doesn’t have a say in what happens

Contract expires in the link

Mbemba anyone? Quite similar to goldson?

Because if he refuses to sign we sell

Probably asked similar in recent years, so apologies, but with the season done now I'm curious to hear what people think on it.

If Rangers were to say "we're going in far heavier on youth development" and replaced Balogun with Mayo, Davis with McCann, and if sold Aribo with Lowry, would you be a fan of that move?

(Players used are just examples, others are obviously possible)

I'm not just meaning have them in the squad, I mean giving them serious game time, just like the players they're replacing. Are we going to say "next season is too important" again?
We’re probably at the stage now where we can do this. We seem to have a number of decent prospects coming through, along with a big talent in Lowry, so it makes sense to use them as squad players and give them an opportunity.

That then lets us focus spending on quality, rather than have to spread the budget over numerous signings. This is likely the long term benefit of us having the B team and being able to coach these young players while giving them meaningful senior football.

The model the board say they want for the club only works in the long run if we start developing young players and giving them a clear path to the first team. We seem to have the focus in the club and the staff to try to make that happen.

On Aribo and him potentially leaving. He is a good player, but he is very replaceable, I wouldn’t be gutted if we got a good fee.

Because if he refuses to sign we sell
He would need to want to go. If he decides he’d rather stay here then there’s nothing we can do. We either bomb him out the team and he sits in the stands for his last year, or we play him and lose him for nothing like Goldson. I’m afraid he holds all the cards.

RANGERS have kicked off their goalkeeper search by pinpointing Vladan Kovacevic as a possible transfer option, with Allan McGregor looking set to retire.

The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international is currently plying his trade with Rakow in the Polish first-tier, Ekstraklasa.

Kovacevic still has two years left on his current contract, but Herald and Times Sport understand that Rakow are keen to cash in on their star man while they can.

The former Sarajevo goalkeeper has kept 16 clean sheets in the league and Europa Conference League this season.

Kovacevic has featured against Rangers’ rivals Celtic in Europe over the past four years, conceding six goals over three Champions League and Europa League qualifying clashes.

Kovacevic is yet to feature for the Bosnia and Herzegovina men’s A squad at international level, but he has been capped seven times by their under-21 side.

Guaranteed group stage Champions League football could be a major catch for Kovacevic to join Rangers, with qualification still a possibility via the third-round qualifying stage.

Rangers have already been linked with Schalke goalkeeper Martin Fraisl, West Brom’s Sam Johnstone and Dundee United’s Benjamin Siegrist as potential goalkeeping options.

Ibrox hero McGregor looks certain to retire this summer after making an emotional appearance off the bench during Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.

Jon McLaughlin started, as he had done in all the previous rounds, but the former Hearts keeper told manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst he wanted McGregor to be given a late run-out if appropriate.

It was a first Scottish Cup final appearance for the former Scotland goalkeeper, who has defied his age this season to help Rangers to the Europa League final with some impressive performances.

It could also be the final appearance of McGregor’s career but he is relaxed about his impending decision and will reflect on the campaign before making any decisions.

So the source would be the player's agent.

I understand he wants a new Beamer.

Couldn't resist putting that in

McLaughlin and McRorie can feel hard done by if this goes through. It’s an area I don’t believe we need to strengthen unless it’s youngsters to play in the B team.

He won the league and Cup twice with Sarajevo b4 moving to Poland, where he won the Cup and Super Cup this season.
Looks like he has a winners mentally.
The thought of us getting an Eastern European goalkeeper does things to me

If there is interest then must have been watching him for a while as he only signed for them last summer on a free transfer.

The best cheap goalkeeper you can get in the whole of Europe in football manager 22.

That should be enough to get the older bears into a fit of rage.
I'm just glad we're going for a keeper that's tall and commanding for a change we've been blessed with cracking goalkeepers over the years but oddly we've tended to stay away from the taller ones.

Pretty happy we are looking at the goalkeeping dept, if true.

I think Jon is a more than able deputy and we’re lucky to have him, kinda like when we had Neil Alexander. However, he is 34/35 and we need to forward plan and keep that area competitive.

Hopefully sign Lewis Ferguson now especially way he is getting treated by Aberdeen fans after he supported us in Seville just to see their reaction
maybe not reason s but i think he could do a job for us
Would improve under Gio and his staff

The one player I really want to come is John Swift exactly the type of player we should be looking at. The dream signing would be Ben Bereton Diaz as he’s out contract but would be unlikely as think Sevilla will sign him. Jed Wallace would be another player I’d like to see.

They will. We will get less than we would’ve if he had 2 or more years left but we will still get a sizeable fee.

You cannot force a player to move to another club if he doesn't want to. That's not been the case for decades now. The only two players who didn't want to sign for the clubs we sold them to in recent years were Alan Hutton and Lewis MacLeod - and in both cases the club used the financial position we were in to convince them to make the move. (Plus MacLeod understandably probably wanted away from the spivs at that point.) If Alfie doesn't want to move, he won't.

McLaughlin and McRorie can feel hard done by if this goes through. It’s an area I don’t believe we need to strengthen unless it’s youngsters to play in the B team.

McCrorie can feel hard done by. He kept two clean sheets, including a quality late save against Celtic, then never got a look in again. Not suggesting McGregor shouldn't have returned to the team as soon as he could, but still.

McLaughlin? Don't see it. He's a solid backup keeper for us but that's it. He's not a commanding enough keeper, nor does he seem to have that leadership mentalitity that our bonafide number ones have had. He knew when he signed for us that he was a backup keeper and I doubt he was told he was guaranteed the gloves if McGregor retired.
