Yes, that's generally how these things work.

We're miles better than last season. And next season, when Gerrard gets the chance to bring in more players having assessed all relative levels this season, he brings in players to strengthen the team.

Right now, we're looking at a fully rebuilt team assembled 5 months ago. We've missed out, by a much finer margin than the group table would suggest, on the last 32 of the europa. Decent.

Now onto the league.
 
Not a great performance. Middleton didn’t have his best game and Tav struggled on the right without Candeias, so we didn’t create much.
At least we’ve had our best run in Europe in 10 years.
Now we can concentrate on the league.
 
We're our own worst enemy.

All of our recent shite form has been our own doing. Sheep x2. Dundee. Spartak x2. Vienna. Better team in most of these games we absolutely impotent going forward.
 
Coulibaly Arfield can jump in the taxi with Ejaria as they simply aren’t up to the required standard. Otherwise a decent performance but we don’t create anywhere near or threaten enough

V Villarreal: Rangers win on away goals.

V Rapid: Rangers win 3-2 on aggregate.

V Spartak: Rangers lose 4-3 on aggregate.

When you look at it that way, it just makes it all the more disappointing but at the same time, I'm quite proud of our efforts in Europe this year.

That was a kick in the balls, McGregor fûck up , frame it. The results against a poor Moscow team did it although that team tonight weren’t any great shakes.

Thought we actually looked good at times tonight. Lacking that little bit of ckmposure with final ball. We dont lose posession, we give it away which is frustrating. Cpl of fresh players in January.
 
No cutting edge today. Think we have pissed away £2million on Grezda and McAuley should be nowhere near our first team. In all honesty the way we have been playing recently I would have been shocked to see us get through this. We still have too many players with the heart of a mouse.
 
Enjoyed being back in Europe but still disappointed.

However failing to qualify in a group with teams of that calibre won't wash in future seasons.
 
Disappointing to lose that. Thought we were the better side but the pitch slowed the game to a stodge. Made it really hard to open the game out with any zip and when we went chasing it we got caught out with a sucker punch.

I'm sure the uber staunch will be wanting everyone sacked as usual after a defeat but that was a night and day better performance than the past couple of games.
