A football coach from Edinburgh who was jailed on Tuesday for sexually abusing several young boys at his city home has died in prison just days later.

William Lothian, known as Bill, indecently assaulted several young players – aged between 11 and 14 – while head coach of a boys’ football club in the Capital between 1997 and 2003.
Seven victims, all now in their 30s, gave evidence against Lothian during a five-day trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. The jury in March returned a guilty verdict on each of the 14 charges against him.
On Tuesday, Lothian was jailed for 45 months by Sheriff Chris Dickson and placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
It was confirmed to the Evening News on Sunday the pervert football coach had died at HMP Edinburgh on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of the sudden death of a 66-year-old man within HMP Edinburgh around 8am on Friday, 14 May, 2021.
"The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
During the trial, the men told the jury there had been regular “inappropriate touching” during the weekly training sessions when the team practised at an Edinburgh school gym hall.
One man said the retired janitor would often “touch our private parts” and “sometimes put his finger up our bums in a joking manner”.
He added the abuse became “a norm at training” and that Lothian “made it out to be fun, like a game”.
Lothian also invited two players to stay over at his home when they were between ten and 12 and all three would drink beer and Bacardi in a converted attic.
One victim said: “We would then go down to his bedroom and lie on the floor. He would stick pornography on the TV and watch it.
“Bill would lie in the middle of us on the floor and he would rub our nipples. The alcohol made us feel tired.
“After watching the pornography he had his hands down my shorts. I was half asleep when he was doing this."
The witness said Lothian touched his privates and added: “We went to sleep and when we woke up it was as if nothing had happened.”
Another victim said he was abused during a stay at Lothian’s home following a Player of the Year presentation night when he was around 13.
He said Lothian, of the capital’s Muirhouse area, gave him beer to drink before climbing into bed and molesting him.
The man said: “I could feel his penis on my leg. His hand then travelled down towards my boxers.
“I shrugged him off and said ‘what are you doing?’ He said to me ‘it’s OK, don’t worry’.
“I jumped out of bed and I just lay on the floor with a pillow. It was freezing cold and I fell asleep.”
He woke hours later and “sneaked out of the house” while it was still dark.
Lothian denied all 14 allegations against him, but was found guilty by a jury of all charges.

Naw! ..., surely not , a man in his position of responsibility would be demanding answers to all these accusations and demanding a full scale inquiry into all the allegations and would want to speak to victims to hear their side of the story if he really supports that club johnkp . A man in that position would be asking all sorts of questions to clear the good name of the club he supports surely . I think there must be some mistake or he would not be in such a responsible position I mean look at the way he condemned all those bad Rangers supporters for celebrating their team's fantastic achievements this season , he would not overlook all the things being said about his own team without proof and a full inquiry or am I missing something ?Why ever would you think that?

I’ve just had a look at the thread on the Catholic Church trying to take the moral high ground.
Spotlight have in our possession a list containing names of beasts and enablers that was handed to us 3 years ago. On this list there are 4 priests, and this doesn’t include Father Michael Spencer who we already tracked down and proved the links last year.
We strongly believe there are more within the Catholic clergy that need tracking down and we will continue to do so.
How dare the Catholic Church attempt to take the moral high ground.

Celtic View, Celtic FC’s official magazine, carried an article praising Spencer in August, 1975. It said he had been invited to Glasgow for a “friendly” match between Celtic Boys Club and his Preston Schoolboys under 15 team.
In 2012 Patrick Raggett, a former lawyer, was awarded £55,000 in damages for the years of abuse Spencer inflicted on him during his schooldays.
Lady Justice Swift at the High Court in London ruled Mr Raggett had been the victim of “insidious” abuse, stating: “Father Spencer took every opportunity to observe naked young boys and film them. He exploited his position to touch and fondle the boys for his own sexual satisfaction.”
Mr Raggett told The Times: “It seems inconceivable to me that Spencer and those responsible for abuse at Celtic Boys Club weren’t in collusion.”
His abuser filmed and photographed him naked on numerous occasions as well as taking shots of him in his football kit and swimming trunks.
Mr Ragget said: “Spencer was a Celtic fanatic and had an obsession with photography and filming. He used to wear a black tracksuit with a Celtic badge and would show cine footage of the Celtic Boys Club playing, which would bore us rigid. I also believe he was sharing naked footage of me with others.”
In 2004 John Cullen, who worked as the official photographer for Celtic View for almost 30 years, admitted taking indecent photographs of boys as young as 10. Cleaners found a black bag containing bundles of black and white images of naked and semi-naked boys in a store room at Celtic Park.
Glasgow sheriff court heard the cache had been hidden there for almost 20 years before the management was alerted, called in the police and sacked Cullen, who was given three years probation.
In 1976 Spencer’s conduct was deemed to be “unsatisfactory”, but he remained at the college until it closed in 1978 before being sent to Orkney.
Celtic FC has said that it is sorry that abuse took place but continues to insist that it was a separate entity to its feeder club.

Oh! for a justice system with someone with the balls to get victims justice .
