Copa Libertadores 2019

Big win for Boca, 1 down and potentially heading out. Carlitos!

A little sad that Penarol didn't make it through, especially given they won at Flamengo.

The draw will also provide the route of the quarter-finals and the semi-finals. This will give the Argentine press plenty of time to agonise over a potential Boca-River meeting - it's already started.

A tough draw for River and Boca return to Paranaense after topping them in the group, albeit they would have lost if based on the two games.

Boca-River in one semi and Gremio-Internacional in the other would be sensational!

That's what stood out for me, as well. :))

CONMEBOL strike again:

Just 24 hours after stating that teams in lower divisions would no longer be welcome in the Copas Libertadores and Sudamericana, CONMEBOL have backtracked and said that actually, they are.

I had no recollection of Vélez playing in the Intercontinental Cup: a 2-0 win over a great AC Milan side.

In Libertadores '94 , Vélez won 3 of their 4 knock-out games on penalties, Jose Chilavert central to their success.

What could possibly go wrong?!
