Hmmnnn.
The truth is that this matter has little to do with Rangers or our support as mere football fans.
It is indeed a tragedy and a criminal disgrace, but we are instead and more importantly, fellow citizens and onlookers, as are the supporters of all the other football clubs in Scotland and the UK.
Of course, as football supporters we are going to comment on this issue, as grandparents, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters of young football players, we are concerned and it is as an issue that we demand has to be dealt with and dealt with severely because it is only in dealing with such a serious issue in a serious manner, can we hopefully ensure it is not repeated in the future and that our children can be safe.
It would appear that Spiers doesn't want us to raise concerns, doesn't want the matter discussed and would perhaps prefer it was kept under wraps and given next to no airing.
That is of course why we find ourselves here today as a society, with six paedophiles having operated at a single club who kept the matter under wraps and allowed victim after victim after victim to fall prey to predator after predator after predator, decade after decade after decade.
Hidden from the police, covered up and protected by a vile club ran by vile people who cared not a jot about the children in its care but instead sought only to look after their commercial enterprise.
You bet we are going to discuss this matter Mr Spiers, you bet we are, and we are going to demand justice for the victims and we are going to raise our voices until these victims are properly vindicated and served with all the justice left to them now for their wrecked and broken lives.
It will be financial reparation and anyone who would dispute their rights to this financial reparation is as low as they come in human society.
Do hear us Mr Spiers, just how low are you prepared to go?
Well, let us examine how low.
It is becoming clear as evidence slowly ekes out that these paedophiles were all known, all of them removed at various times because in the background people at Celtc Football Club were aware of their activities.
Torbett kicked out by Stein.
Cairney allowed to remove himself after allegations in the US.
McAfferty quietly removed because of rumours of his bestial inclinations.
Billy McNeill being party to what Billy told a Scottish court, was an open secret.
Etc Etc.
So who all knew, who over the decades close to Celtc Football Club and aware of all the club rumours and gossip were watching nearby as these three big Celtc men, in particular, were removed from jobs so close to their hearts?
The Directors, ha, you bet they all knew, the manager, of course, he knew,... and the players' heck they were in on the open secret, Big Billy told us that.
But hey wait, who else was in the mix?
Ffsake of course, the Scottish press, how could they not know!
Those journalists who hung around Celtc Park, those Celtc minded journalists, especially the ones who were almost in with the bricks.
Journalists who perhaps were voted by the support as journo of the year, that type of journalist.
Oh heck, they must have known, they must have heard and they must have turned the other way and put their pens down and retired their notebooks, even as children were being beasted in the changing rooms and driven down lonely roads to be scarred by the sort of experiences that decent adults would risk their lives to save kids from, never mind their sordid careers as hacks.
Talking of betrayals, when the dust settles and the people of Scotland perhaps have time to put the pieces together and join the dots of the last fifty years inside that toxic organisation, maybe just maybe someone somewhere will examine what part the Scottish press played in this cover-up and realise that perhaps we have some of the vilest, most deceitful dishonest and reprehensible so-called journalists and newspapers, on the entire planet.
One might think.[/QUOTE
Brilliant post and spot on mate.
