A FORMER chairman of Celtic Boys Club has appeared in court charged with historic sex offences against school pupils during his stint as a primary teacher.
Gerald King, 65, has been accused of lewd and libidinous practices towards six students while he was teaching at St Martha’s Primary School in Balarnock.

He was suspended from his job following the revelations and he was warned to stay away from the school after his arrest on February 15 last year.
King appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court today to face charges spanning from August 1, 1983, to June 30, 1989, at the Glasgow school.
It’s claimed King, from Springburn, is also facing a seventh charge of taking or making indecent images of children between January 1987 and December 1988.
He pleaded not guilty and was allowed to continue on bail ahead of a pre-trial hearing next month.
From yesterday. You wouldn’t even know he had anything to do with Celtic.
Trial of teacher accused of sexual abuse of pupils begins

A PRIMARY school teacher has gone on trial accused of a string of sexual abuse charges against former pupils.
Gerald King, 66, is accused of using lewd and libidinous practices towards seven school children while he was a teacher at a school in the north of
Glasgow.
He went on trial today at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he is represented by defence counsel Gavin Anderson.
The charges span from August 1, 1983 to June 30, 1989 at the school in Glasgow and are alleged to have been committed against five boys and two girls.
King, from
Springburn, Glasgow also faces a charge of taking or permitting to be taken, indecent images of children on various occasions between January 1987 and December 1988 at Barrowfield football park at the city’s
London road.
The pensioner denies the charges against him and the trial before sheriff Johanna Johnston QC continues.
