Celtic face threat of multimillion pound compensation claim(The Times)

Why would the football club ask you to leave your details and someone at the club will call you back.

Even before Andrew disclosed to his nearest he called CP and asked to speak to someone who could help with his enquiry.

This was before the torture of trying to prove he was a player at the cbc.
Why would the football club set up a phoneline for the victims to contact?

Posted previously as some know. Still a very interesting read for those that have never seen it. It makes you wonder about the level of corruption in our country.

Frank McAveety is Labour's former Sports Minister who championed the case for Sportscotland's HQ to be relocated from Edinburgh to the Parkhead site of a new National Arena, despite 90% of Sportscotland's employees expressing their desire to stay in Edinburgh,

Ron Culley is a former Labour Party candidate for Strathkelvin and Bearsden. He is also the former Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise and former colleague of Stephen Purcell of GCC, who is on the board of Scottish Enterprise,

Jack McConnell is a personal friend Former Chairman of Scottish Enterprise is Willie Haughey. Haughey is Scotland’s biggest single donor to Labour Party funds. He received £16 million of tax-payers money, approved by Jack McConnell, to relocate his business to facilitate the M74 extension......to Parkhead.

Culley is a season ticket holder at Celtic Park as are Haughey, Purcell and McAveety. McConnell is a regular guest. Culley visited Beijing to study transport systems to "help Glasgow’s bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games". Culley, Haughey and McAveety were at the forefront of the campaign for the M74 extension which improved Road links to Parkhead. 3 days after McConnell and McAveety announced the relocation of Sport Scotland to land adjacent to Celtic Park,

Culley as Chief Executive of Strathclyde Passenger Transport) quietly issued a low-key statement declaring the intention to build a new £20 million train link to Parkhead jointly funded by SPT, GCC and The Scottish Executive. More recently Culley announced plans for a Glasgow Underground extension to Parkhead.

Key historic buildings at Parkhead Cross are to be refurbished as part of a drive to breathe new life into the east end of the city. The Heritage Lottery Fund has given £1.4 million – one of the largest single donations it has ever awarded – to specifically restore the 100 year old Edwardian style buildings that frame the Cross. Three former bank buildings will be renovated to bring empty floor space back into viable use and improve the overall streetscape.

The Parkhead Townscape Heritage Initiative is a £4 million five year plan, with the aim of repairing and bringing back to use landmark buildings, vacant shop units and enhancement to the public realm . The partners in the initiative include Glasgow City Council, East End Partnership, East End SIP, Communities Scotland Celtic Football Club and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow. £50 first prize to the first caller to name me a link between Glasgow City Council, Celtic Football Club and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow.

In the mid 90s after Celtic FC had submitted plans for the re-building of their stadium. Glasgow District Council sold the club significant tracts of land namely Kinloch Street, Janefield Street and Dalriada Street for the princely sum of 1p. The Planning Committee consisted thirteen members, eleven Labour, one SNP, and one Tory. The SNP member was so disgusted with the dealings of his own committee that he informed the Herald that "of them eleven Labour councillors on the committee, they are all either season ticket holders or share holders at Celtic Park. Eight of them are both". He further noted that,"if these eleven councillors were shareholders in ICI and they voted for lax planning consent on a petro-chemical plant , there would be a criminal investigation". (This scandal was also reported in Private Eye's "Rotten Borough's" column).

Okay, we have established Glasgow District Council sold three streets( Dalriada Street ,Janefield Street ,and Kinloch Street ) to their beloved

Sellik for a penny. Next, the combined efforts of the Board of Scottish Enterprise(Glasgow) ie Paul Cooney, Wullie HeeHaw, Charlie Gordon, Stephen Purcell, ....etc and the then First Minister and Sellik season ticket and share holder, Jack McConnell ensured the Commonwealth Games would be centred on Sellik Park . It was first announced by McConnell to Snyde's Paul Cooney on the evening of the home leg of the UEFA Cup tie against Liverpool. Subsequently, it came out that the Velodrome would be constructed across the London Road and the various Administrative blocks would house Sports Scotland (currently located in Edinburgh).

Those Admin' blocks have to be filled and the next vetted and fully on message tenants’ are Culture and Sport Glasgow. The Chief Executive of this public funded body is Bridget McConnell, wife of Jack. Of course, Bridget only received her in excess of £100,000 per annum designation because of a piece of horse trading by philanderer, Jack. He could not keep it zipped, got caught, ended up on the front page of the Record, and Bridget only agreed to respectability if Jack ensured she was over promoted several grades. In football parlance, Bridget was a youth team stalwart who immediately assumed Captaincy of the first team.

Really, it all makes sense to centralise all the decision making process. All those MPs, MSPs, MEPs, Councillors, and Chief Executive of Public Funded bodies can watch their hooped heroes then walk across London Road to decide what’s best for the peoples of Glasgow, Truly, the establishment Club.

I wonder if Bridget's and Jack's brother-in-law, Robert McLuckie will be first on the guest list. Perhaps I should try and explain myself further for those questioning why certain contributors raise the possibility that this proposed "Eat End Redevelopment" and "Celtic Triangle" may be of considerable benefit to Celtic FC - and indeed, that this is a primary factor in the plans we've seen released this week. Until very recently, Glasgow had not had a non-RC Lord Provost since the early 70s. A completely disproportionate number of staff at Glasgow City Council – including those at top end of the salary scale such as Bridget McConnell – are RCs. Nearly all Labour councillors are RCs and few councillors are members of any other party. Roman Catholic ex-Lord Provost Dr. Michael Kelly questioned the reasons behind this phenomenon a few years ago live on radio, the inference being the situation had arisen out of bigotry. Credit to him for being so open and honest.

A recent Lord Provost, Alex Mosson, was an IRA sympathizer who was responsible for inviting Gerry Adams to Govan Town Hall , while the Provisional’s terror campaign was in full swing. Mosson had a novel interpretation of wealth redistribution; he had several criminal convictions for burglary, two of which lead to custodial sentences, including one case which involved tying up an OAP.

Mosson's wife was certainly not prepared to let taxpayers' money go to waste during her husband's stint as Provost, insisting on an increase in her dress allowance from £8,000 to £14,000 p.a. When questioned, she justified this by famously claiming "the people of Glasgow wouldn't want to see me wearing the same outfit twice".Mr. Mosson was the inaugural Chairman of The Celtic Trust and perhaps unsurprisingly, made sure that the official limousine was at hand for his regular trips to Celtic Park, a policy that was also questioned by political opponents. Strangely, he never took the opportunity of visiting Ibrox.

Again this was swept under the carpet ,and was never brought to light at the council meetings, this was squashed when it was raised.

Perhaps it is not surprising, therefore, that some query the motives behind those at the forefront of the Commonwealth Games bid – such as Jack McConnell, Ron Culley, Steven Purcell and Frank McAveety – who are all regulars at Celtic Park .There are huge question marks over the £288m budget (80% to be paid by the Executive), given that the cost of the `indoor arena' alone has recently escalated from an original £24m to £70m. McConnell's handing of the M74 extension affair, in which he met City Refrigeration Holding boss (and ex-Celtic director) Willie Haughey before an initial £7.4m compensation award was increased to £16.5m – with Haughey subsequently donating £330,000 to the Labour Party – hardly dampens suspicion.

In contrast to the largesse being bestowed on the East End of Glasgow, SPT instructed Rangers that the club would have to fork out £500k if the old Ibrox station on the Central-Paisley line was ever to be re-opened.

A lot is spoken about `sectarianism' in Scotland I contend that there is far, far more to this problem than songs sung at football matches and that it is time the Scottish people wakened up.

When is one of our elected representatives going to ask some searching questions regarding the various deals surrounding East End regeneration, the Commonwealth Games bid, the M74 extension and the proposed rail/subway extensions? They may also care to question why the bulk of the "regeneration" seems to centre around a one mile radius of Celtic Park.

This shows the level of commitment that some of our illustrious councillors have under the cloak of City Council Dealings.
They are like clusters of bacteria that merge into one big poisonous disease that drains all the good bacteria as the poison becomes a mass of greedy green filth and I look forward to the day when the mass gets so big it explodes and the rotten disease gets washed away down the gutters to the sewers of depravity and all the good bacterias all come out to rejoice at the downfall of the scummy mess , the Sun comes out all the good guys win again :)) ( This MACALLAN is lovely stuff btw )

I see
Absolutely despise the nationalists and agree 100% that they are up to their necks in covering this up but please remember this has also been covered up for 5 decades by the previous governing body .......Labour.......
Labour mp’s who were quick to tell us where their allegiances lay
Now what have Labour and SNP got in common ? It doesn’t take a great deal of thought to work it out, both are controlled and over run by a cult that has been steeped in this disgusting practice since their inception, they are devoid of morals and the ability to actually think for themselves regards right or wrong, they are controlled by their church
It is an absolute tragedy that the crimes that have been committed and the people responsible for using every trick in their dirty book are not behind bars
As has been said on here before, my cap is doffed to the brave guys on here leading the way, but in a decent civilised society this should not be the case. The evidence is there, the appetite to look at it by certain journalists is not
Maree Todd the minister for children and young people is on the Scottish parliament TV channel at the moment discussing child care has she been approached to ask for an independant enquiry into historic child abuse including football and religion. She stated Scotland is a fantastic place to grow up in. That is not the idea I get.

Somethings bugging me...

When Torbett was thrown out by Stein the first time Torbett is alleged to have started blubbering...to which Stein replied(may not be word for word but those familiar will get the gist) "you can stop the ******* Hollywood stuff...if it wasnt for those boys you'd be going fo jail for a long time"

What did he mean...."if it wasnt for those boys"?
Were "those boys" cohearsed into silence to avoid police involvement and allow Stein to deal with it personally ?

Who were the boys and what was thrown in front of them to buy their silence?

According to an article in the Celtic view the cover up began when it stated Torbett left due to pressure of work..which we now know was a complete lie

You bet he knew. Not only him but all journalists sniffing about celtic park back then must have known.
That's just an opinion.
Of course Keevins knew. There were rumours about CBC amongst other youth teams as far back as the 70’s and certainly in the 80’s - I heard them at the time.

If youth players in Glasgow were aware, then a journalist as close to Celtic as Keevins would undoubtedly be aware. Does anyone really believe that someone whose job relies upon contacts, gossip, rumour, word of mouth was not aware? Just not credible.

Throw in the fact that Keevins was extremely close to “the late, great Tommy Burns”, who in turn was extremely close to Frank Cairney. I’m convinced Burns knew what was going on and I’m equally convinced Keevins knew too. He was too close to Celtic and Burns not to be aware.

Keevins needs to be questioned under oath.

He certainly would have heard rumours. But we have to remember he is part of a religion that rumours have been going about for centuries. It's part of his culture, it's ingrained not to mention bad things about separate entity.

It's been more than a year since @Haining84 started this thread. So much has been uncovered since then by what I would call "normal, every day people" So much has been exposed regarding seperate entity by many people. But still, the press and SNP government are not prepared to look into the FACTS. Makes one wonder why.
What have they to hide?
Who is being protected?
When the dam eventually bursts, as it will, these people should be front page, and then shot.

Until recently I never realised the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes / off the thread.

The name Neil Strachan, and knowing what he did to kids as young as 18 months old, makes me feel sick.

"Anyone would be willing to forgive Celtic if they unknowingly hired one paedophile and then sacked him after finding out the truth.

It can happen to any club. It can happen to any company.

But only Celtic hired at least 6 abusers / paedophiles. And rehired them. And then denied their involvement.

Not just in Scottish football, but the entire world of sport. No other club surpasses them in that record. How many victims have suffered at the hands of Celtic FC?

And trust me. There is no separate entity. Evidence proves it on here. That excuse is done. Celtic FC, The Celtic Football and Athletic Company Limited, Celtic PLC, Celtic Boys Club... were all part of the same family, the same group, the same club, the same company.

Celtic hired and rehired paedophiles.

Celtic hired a man who abused a 1 year old child.

Celtic rehired a man who already had abuse allegations against him.

Celtic swept abuse allegations under the carpet."

That should be your next rousing speech Mr Lawell, with a grovelling apology and retraction of your club from any competitive sport, not just football.

It may prove to be the case that in law, Celtic Boys Club were a separate entity from Celtic Football Club. However, it is indisputable from a sizeable amount of evidence - not least from The Celtic View, as revealed by the research done by BN94 and other stalwarts on FF - that the two were closely linked as part of the wider Celtic family. Moreover, the interim report from the investigation of game's governing body into sexual abuse has declared the significance of practical links between clubs. Consequently, Celtic Football Club had and continues to have a responsibility for Celtic Boys Club employees' conduct.

CFC has wilfully and shamefully sought to shirk this responsibility, whether legal or moral, initially stating allegations of misconduct on the part of CBC employees to be "scurrilous". The results of a more recent and internal investigation remain to be announced, but from the outside this investigation would appear to be another exercise in self-protection

As RWL 12 states, the sheer number of paedophiles connected with CBC, and therefore with CFC, marks 'Celtic' out as different to any other club - any club worldwide, as far as is known - which may have had the misfortune of employing a paedophile. That a paedophile was rehired, and another considered for re-employment, further condemns 'Celtic', as does its continued links with the Trophy Centre after Torbett's conviction. That a paedophilia ring operated under its protection can for the moment only be speculation, but it is speculation which is justifiable in the light of facts. And then there are the connections to other paedophiles outside of the close family, such as Bennell and Saville.

As is widely agreed by FF members, justice for the victims of sexual abuse in Scottish football is the most important outcome of the current consideration of matters. However, it would be an indelible stain not only on Scottish football, the media which covers it, and the fans who follow it, but also on the Scottish government if the most prominent organisation in the scandal was to escape without corresponding censure and punishment.

Now that would be 'embarrassing'

Who is doing the protecting is a worry. This goes very deep

I thought Strachan was a stretch too far, the name of Celtic wasn’t tenuous, but to link them to the actual football club was a bit of a distraction to the major incidents at Parkhead. However, the way this web has been uncovered and presented by the posters, I believe this link could be an indication of the interconnection between the reprobates. It’s obvious that there is a mountain of evidence to show CFC and CBC were essentially the same thing or completely intertwined, but any deliberate connection to the Edinburgh branch, FFS, the whole organization should be closed and erased from the history books.

The misconception that Celtic have investigated internally and found no wrongdoing or cases to answer ? The mythical recurring child abuse, is scurrilous rumours to show the club in a bad light. The shameful pitiful truth ,that authorities of sport and government to date, have refused to address this horrendous scandal ,truly abhorrent.
Welcome to Scotland 2020 where standards have dropped that far this is seemingly acceptable. The facts that have been presented by the spotlight team over the recent months are truly chilling.
Unbelievable that the SFA are still stalling and refusing to acknowledge they have a problem off the scale with a member club.

I might be wrong here, but I'd say 99.999% of people at the SFA know this is wrong and would like nothing better to right the wrongs. I even say, without fear of contradiction, Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon go to bed (separately !) every night hoping there is some resolution to this, as they find the whole mess repugnant and a disgrace. They'd like nothing better than their fore bearers to fess up and take the blame. Take it at face value, no decent person can think otherwise.

The bigger question is why is this not happening? Keeping the good name of Celtic,is long since gone.

Second one, I doubt it - never sees things other than through his blinkers.
First one. Absolutely not. No morals or scruples whatsoever.

You give far too much credit.

I honestly can't believe that. Or maybe, I'd just like to think that wasn't the case. They've pulled some shit in their time, but surely this is a step too far for anyone. They are both fathers, surely to goodness, they have some system of morality.
What is stopping them coming and saying "enough, this has to be brought to justice." Goldberg is about to show the world what went on. Preserve the good name, Celtic's name will be no better than Penn State or American Gymnastics, if there is any decency left, forget the dark forces telling you otherwise and do the right thing for the victims.

Peter seperate entity lawwell? You must be joking. He had the perfect opportunity to do what was correct by the victims. He done the same as nearly everyone that has went before him. Tried and failed to protect the name of celtic.

That's kind of my point. Celtic's name may be about to be destroyed. I can't believe that PL isn't being worked from behind. Would that shock anyone if he is? There is never a wrong time to do the right thing (well maybe that's a stretch), so if they have any humanity or humility (and I can't believe they don't)- do the right thing by the victims. Be that guy, before the yellow tape goes round Parkhead.

Leading with your chin there, BC.
Can you tell me, though, what those two have done to give you that impression? Preferably, but not necessarily, around justice catching up with child abusers.

Now Hugh is either very arrogant or extremely stupid. Does he have no idea of what is coming his and his clubs way! At his age and with everything he knows, surely he would be better retreating from the limelight, keep his head down and hope for the best. By remaining on the airwaves and by now writing a column every Sunday, he’s putting himself out there to be knocked down and shown to be the enabler that he is. He’s a foolish little man.
It means he won't be able to play the dementia ticket. C'mon Shug; regale us with tales from 67...No not that borefest, not Lisbon...Barrowfield!

His good mate Garry Speed whom he played at the same time as him at Crewe and that will be haunting him, whether you like Lennon or not he played under the worst human in English football and if he was lucky enough to come through that unscathed then I’m delighted for him and if he didn’t then I feel so sorry for the man, either way for him to be able to hold down a normal life as such is a testament to him.

Im not a Lennon fan but I do give his outbursts a second thought just incase

I really hope their is justice for all concerned, however i feel the grubby mitts of the justice minister will be trying to knobble this in what ever way he can, if the test case fails to get the go ahead is that it over with?.
i hope i'm wrong to think he has that much control but i would not put it past them.

Lawwell is prolonging the victim’s and their families agony by sticking to this separate entity nonsense and TLB is toeing the company line by not commenting and hoping it goes away, I feel the Celtic/SFA executive are culpable so are not “decent people”.

Any decent person would be doing everything to ensure this was handled properly or they would be out the door, we don't hear any of these noises coming out of pedo park which would imply that they are all quite comfortable with what is going on.
