The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

Whether we bid in the end or not we seem to consistently be scouting players like him who would improve us a lot, good signs.

He looks similar to Kent and Aribo with dribbling and committing people, we've long needed another player like that to give us an extra dimension in those tight domestic games.

You'd see the world of difference in some of our key players if they had a proper right winger or creative midfielder of similar quality to chip in.

We have a fairly decent relationship with Genk, could be legs in this transfer. Not going to get my hopes up too high though. Fingers crossed though.

Agreed, we did get a good deal off them with Hagi as well.

Just checked and 5 days after Bongonda was born, the first Rangers game to take place since his birth we battered Hibs 4-1

Hagi's first goal for Rangers? A winner against Hibs.

If anyone has read my previous posts on here then they'll know I'm firmly in the 'happy clapper' camp of posters as I am rarely negative about anything but I wouldn't be spending millions on him if those are his highlights. All I saw was lightening pace, poor control, a small amount of skill and trickery but a real lack of composure/decision making lacking any real end product in that highlight reel. Beat a man, give it away etc. Predominantly played on the left and continuously ran into cul de sacs. What we need is a right winger with skill who can beat a low block defence and provide assists as well as a goal threat. On that evidence he looks like Sakala, who i like, minus the goals and assists and suits a counterattacking team. Obviously if we sign him I'll support him fully, give him time to settle in etc and not judge him on his first poor game but I was not impressed by that at all and his skillset is the exact opposite of what we need imo.

His stats on Transfermkt suggest different to this, loads of goals and assists for a wide player.

Stats and short clips don’t give anywhere near the full picture though.

I am still getting over the Peña YouTube sensation.

Agreed. Pena looked absolutely fucking magic in his. Hopefully you're right and this is the opposite.

Cast your mind back to the last 6months of their failed 10 in a row bid!

Those players demanded they get out the club, they were being given police escorts and had to park their cars in secret locations.

It’s not that strange when you think about it
The point is they got top dollar for players in the last 12 months of their contract and we have someone on here saying we might have to accept 6m for Aribo.

I find that strange.

Most Belgium clubs have remained with the transfer agreements during Covid of 60% up front then the remainder paid across 18 months + and or a sell on fee. Genk are also a brilliant club to deal with as well of having a history of developing young players. Leipzig were looking at Kristian Thorstvedt, that's how my mate crossed paths with scouts representing Rangers.

Bongonda is an interesting one. It is a market Wilson knows well, he has one year left on his deal and would fit into our wage structure

Good goals and assist stats and can play on either side or as an AM

First rumour for a while that is exciting
Interest from Royal Antwerp, Clubs in France, Germany and the far east according to reports.

So you are a scout?

There was one that was a compilation of his goals that was shown on Mexican TV, some of them were out of this world, Messi-esque, I couldn‘t believe we were getting him or why he wasn’t picked up by Barcelona or Madrid.

Turns out it was because he was a lazy piss head B-)

Aww ffs, someone name drops a player and everyone's panties are getting wetter than the pitch at the Harry Styles concert.

Until they are in a Rangers strip then to be fair no-one knows anything apart from the club.

What could we have done though if they didn't want to sign new deals and no acceptable bids were coming in for them?

If we tried to force them into a move last year because they wouldn't sign on then we would have got even shitter bids and no doubt have been weaker on the park.
I don't believe for a minute that clubs can't or don't encourage offers for their players via agents, media, etc.

He will have a good lifestyle but within a season he will be playing in serie B getting his leg hairs ripped out and scissored from behind in front of a few thousand people

Salernitana have money behind them. They have ambitions beyond yo-yoing between A and B.

Also his mate Emil Bohinen is there. And 1 good season will get him a move to a bigger club in Italy.

Its not the terrible career move some on here will have you believe.

You mentioned you're into player profiling. Have you watched much of Bongonda?

What's ur take on him and suitability at us?

Theo Bongonda was highly rated before he joined Celta. Had a pretty good first season in La Liga. Sort of fell off after that. Mainly plays left wing but likes to come centrally and out on the right. Work rate is tremendous, presses, tracks back, just never tires. Loves a shot at goal too.

If we’ve scouted Bongonda I’d hope we’ve got an eye on Luca Oyen. A very good AM.

That's a bit more reassuring than the video clip that's been posted. I have to admit that I was not impressed.

On the basis of that video clip, I share your opinion.

That was my take on the video as well mate. YouTube highlight reels can be deceiving but he didn't strike me as the type who would excel for us domestically against deep lying defences.
