Being brought up the way I was, I got to see plenty of Davie Cooper, albeit at an age that I maybe wouldn't have appreciated everything that he contributed in a match. So you might have a bit of a point there. However, from what I have seen, I don't think he's rivalling Laudrup as the best I've seen play for us. Against us, I'd probably say Riquelme, as he was a joy to watch. Is 1981 the year of your birth?
If so, then you weren't even a swimmer in your daddy's sack when he started for us and were 8 years old when he left.
The guy was sheer class. Granted I'm biased as he was my idol when I was a teenage boy but he was absolutely majestic.
All wingers are inconsistent but when this guy was on his game he was World Class. Worth the entry fee alone to watch him turn guys inside out. I won't hear a bad word about Coop lol
Clapped him off the pitch. Ran the show.Us - Gazza
Opposition - Mendieta
Can't count Messi as he was in Sasa's pocket.
Why close thread? Cooper great but not even Rangers best.Davie Cooper. Close the thread admin.
Remember at the time because of his connection with the magnificent bastard rumours about coming to Ibrox obviously no foundation to rumour . Think Juventus beat us 2-0 that night and Del Piero was amazing remember one time with Cleland spun him so much he's probably still dizzyI fell in man love with Luca Vialli at that time as well. LOL
It was the first time I’d seen him in the flesh. The tireless running he did for Juve that night to create space for others was something I’ll never forget. And he was a terrific finisher as well.
The complete modern forward. Love that guy.
On the back of the if you could relive a game thread, it got me thinking about the best football player or players who have played at Ibrox and not just for Rangers. There are an abundance of players but I'm going to say Gascoigne for sheer natural talent.
Mendieta was superb in that game.Good shout that one
For me Valencia at Ibrox were the best team I'd saw, any one of claudio Lopez, kily Gonzalez or mendieta who were all magnificent that night
I would add Arteta to that list as I went away from the PSG match thinking who the feck was that kid with the number 4 on, a few months later we signed him. There have been so many, off the top of my head Juan Roman Requilme,Gaizka Mendieta,Mario Kempes & Our very own Prince of Denmark.

This would be my answer.Gazza, Laudrup and Cooper are hard to separate for us.
I have watched Cruyff and Messi at Ibrox but neither played well. Jimmy Johnstone was a fantastic player but the best visitng display possibly Prosinecki for Red Star - he was outstanding.
Their defence in that era was tighter than a ducks arseThat was a wonderful Valencia team.
(The Aberdeen of Spain, copyright clueless Scottish press).

Canizares
Angloma Pellegrino Ayala Carboni
Although I'm sure Bjorklund started against us for them.
One of the most complete sides we've ever faced in the CL.
They were a proper side. Very unlucky to lose two finals. Should have beaten Bayern imo.He played in the first game against us in spain
My answers also.Best performance by a visiting player? Riquelme.
Best Rangers player in my lifetime? Gascoigne.
Best player I’ve seen at Ibrox but not his performance on the night? Probably Messi.

Do people say Cooper for sentimental reasons?
He was a great player, but not in the same class as Laudrup surely? I guess it's all about opinions.
