The amount of financial whizz kids and advertising gurus on here I'm surprised Rangers arent the richest club in the world.
Instead of sharing your expertise on here you should all be battering down Bisgroves door with your knowledge.
I actually believe folk actively search for something to moan about. Next it will be the new kit design and God help us if 32 Red are still the main sponsor.
It really becomes tedious

Would you be happy to watch Rangers at the Pepsi Arena?

Why not go the whole hog and sell the naming rights for the entire club if it gets us more money in your opinion?
The name of the stadium ain't the same as changing name of the club. If someone offered us between 5/10 million a year to sponsor the stadium that everyone outside of journalists and TV presenters would still call Ibrox anyway we'd be off our heads not to take it. It's as close as you can get to money for nothing.

I agree that stands should be named after players or legendary figures of the club but this looks like simple advertising on the stand rather than renaming the stand. Who knows though? If they want to pay to name it, why not? We are in a business of commercialising whatever we can - and whatever people will pay for - I have no problem with that. Sadly we do not have the TV riches of other leagues so need to be more creative to compete commercially. We'll all still call it the Copland anyway. I still call the Sandy Jardine stand the Govan stand and the Bill Struth stand the Main stand, as examples of that.

On Broomloan as well......

It's the 21st century. Revenue streams and all that.

Football traditions ended when I couldn't get a macaroon bar AND spearmint chewing gum from the same vendor in the Enclosure. ;)

Some folk don’t want advertising, some folk don’t want us to sell any players, the club can’t win. Looks shite but we obviously need the revenue.

Oh come on. It’s a complete no-mark company and I’ll bet you they’re not paying big money to have stands named after them effectively, based on the placement of their stickers. I admire most of what Bisgrove has done but all these sponsors are tinpot. How many folk had heard of Seko, Topcat tyres, Bitchslap and this mob? Ultimately we are hitting Euro group stages every season now (long May it continue) and there are at least 4 televised OF games a season. We should be attracting bigger and better. Not Tier 1 sponsors obviously but surely bigger than these efforts.

Stands effectively named after them?

That’ll cause confusion when people get their tickets if there’s two of them.

It’s literally an empty space that hardly gets any exposure.

Which has high profile on matchdays. I hope that the next shirt sponsor is higher profile but don’t hold out much hope.

Stop complaining, you'll only see it when you look up at passing planes with "can you see us now?" banners flying by.

It's bringing in much needed finance at a time when businesses are closing.
It's not renaming the stand and no different from having a sponsors name on the seats...Castore will keep that for next season...although it'll probably read C s re by next Christmas

I have to be honest, I’m struggling I see the outrage here. There is advertising along the bottom and middle of the stand. What makes the top of it sacrosanct?

Do I like it? No. Does it bother me any more than the boards across the middle of the stand? Still no.

And the point of advertising is..........?

Look them up.
Aye just did Hap, one of those drug free pain signal blockers, her indoors tried something similar when she was in labour then quickly sacked it off and screamed for an epidural.
Could be worse though imagine Vagisil or Anusol were offering big money for brand placement :))

It's money for not very much. Club say its substantial so all good as far as I'm concerned.

I don't mind a stand being named as long as its not the stadium being renamed.
The thing is it's not being renamed. It's just logos going up to co-ordinate with advertising and being in a 2 year deal with Rangers women and on mens training bibs. I'm not against the idea however I would like to to tie in with the rest of the stadium. I.e want the interior design of stadium to be top notch, everything co ordinates and attention to detail be up a few levels. We getting there but still some way to go.

Of course, but as above, this isn’t some huge multinational. It’s a moderate company.

There must be a ‘price’ on flogging these sorts of things and for the sake of, say, £50k, I’d rather not have two big, ugly logos on the roof. Just like I think CAPITAL LETTERS looks rubbish.

It was Charles Green who said “I’ll take a cheque off anybody” and was largely reviled so I’m not sure why we now take the view everything’s for sale.
In our last accounts, we lost 17 million pounds. 17 million. The year before we lost around 12 million. No fans this year means our losses, despite increased commercial revenues will be significantly higher. We could be looking at cumulative losses over 3 years of around 50 million pounds. How would you plug the gap? We also need to reman competitive by building our squad. Our benefactors cannot continue to bank roll our club.

You won’t get any argument from me that I’ve become more cynical in my old age. Although I’m surprised someone with your CV would pull anyone up for over-analysing and/or holding the Board to account, particularly over the last decade!

I have an ongoing concern regarding our sustained, substantial, losses and it’s perfectly legitimate to critique the Board in terms of their ideas for revenue generation. Things like roof sponsorship, dodgy Radio partnerships etc seem fairly scattershot to me. Conversely, Nord makes perfect sense.

Just my two cents.
What would you do to close the funding gap we have? We are looking at a gap of circa 50 million over 3 years?

I have no problem with this.

Our iconic stadium is a massive asset and if it can be used to increase revenue then it is fine by me.

I'm happy with this as it's another revenue stream as we are losing alot of money at the moment.

need to balance our books somehow.

And the concrete on both Copland and Broomloan 'still' needs a proper clean. No excuse for that. It's a mess.
No excuse?!!
Seriously? Care to give us a cost breakdown of the work seeing as you appear to have all the answers and intimate knowledge of the maintenance program of the club?

FFS - are you tying to tell me that the concrete strips at the top of both Copland and Broomloan, on the outside, are beyond any sort of clean up?! Seriously?
