Is this the one when he chipped the goalkeeperIf this is the goal I think it is, it was an absolute cracker.
Absolutely stunning image that. Honestly can't beat watching a game under the lights!!!October 17, 1951.
This striking photograph is captured as 62,000 fans fill the Arsenal Football Stadium in Highbury, North London to see Arsenal challenge the Glasgow Rangers.
It is Arsenal's second match ever to be played under Highbury's floodlights
I love photos like this. It takes me back to the time I fell in love with Rangers. The game wasn’t all about money and prima donna players - I didn’t know who the board members were, unless they featured in the Playing for Rangers books and hot dogs were some futuristic food. Simpler times.
Ronnie Simpson is the goalie.
I gave my programme for this game to the Ibrox Bar in Tenerife.
George Farm was quoted as a replacement for (Sir) Scot Symon around 1966.George Farm, Dunfermline manager and former Scotland goalkeeper
Willie Allison wrote one of the Rangers books in the late 1950’s, “The New Era.” No photographs of him in the book!have read a lot of what Ferguson said about his time at Ibrox and he was scathing of Willie Allison who was the 'PR' man at the time but Fergie said he had much more influence than his position credited - never seen a pic of him though.
Sellyns in Springburn Road! I remember it well.I gave my programme for this game to the Ibrox Bar in Tenerife.
The New Era came out at the end of the 1965-66 season, the Kai Johansen cup final was the last thing in it.Willie Allison wrote one of the Rangers books in the late 1950’s, “The New Era.” No photographs of him in the book!
With regards to Allison having undue influence in the “Corridors of Power” - Ferguson is talking bollocks (as he inevitably does speaking of his time at Ibrox).
My memory is slipping! Thanks for correction. The New Era came out at the end of the 1965-66 season, the Kai Johansen cup final was the last thing in it.
Now that’s a picture…
Left - Provan, Baillie, Baxter Jardine?? Mathieson (only one I can think of)? McLean, Ritchie, Hubbard, Wilson and ?? and Kinnear? Now that’s a picture…

Brand for Jardine?Left - Provan, Baillie, Baxter Jardine?? Mathieson (only one I can think of)? McLean, Ritchie, Hubbard, Wilson and ?? and Kinnear?

Yeah, affectionately known as Dingy. Johnny Jnr drinks in the Tannochside Olde Club. I was at his fathers funeral. Johnny tells a funny story about McCoist at the funeral….Is that the late Johnny Hamilton next to John Greig.?
When you played on frozen pitches in Adiddas Sambas
It is indeed. Is that the late Johnny Hamilton next to John Greig.?
I reckon that would have been the last game of the season in 1976 v Dundee Utd when a team of retired players such as Baxter played a kick about. Doug Baillie standing next to Baxter?
Was there as a twelve year old wonderful memories that i will never forget
More likely SC Final April 1960.It looks like an awfully nice day for October.
That's a shout.Brand for Jardine?
Wilson Wood for Mathieson?
That was my thinking.More likely SC Final April 1960.
That’s my thinking. Midweek 0-0 wasn’t it? Was there a pre-match announcement about Greigy being recalled to the Scotland squad?I reckon that would have been the last game of the season in 1976 v Dundee Utd when a team of retired players such as Baxter played a kick about. Doug Baillie standing next to Baxter?
If Dundee Utd lost they were relegated. We missed a penalty which kept them up.That’s my thinking. Midweek 0-0 wasn’t it? Was there a pre-match announcement about Greigy being recalled to the Scotland squad?
Didn't they miss a penalty? If Dundee Utd lost they were relegated. We missed a penalty which kept them up.
Can’t remember any pre match announcement but I was very young! I find it incredible that I can remember details from Rangers games 40 years ago yet can’t remember the Champions League final from last year. It just shows the excitement of going to Ibrox as a young kid.
Aahhhh, see what I was saying about my memory .Didn't they miss a penalty?
Their goalkeeper took it, Hamish McAlpine.
Hamish usually was deadly with spot kicks. Must have been operating under instructions from wee Jim to keep the zero as were Rangers.Didn't they miss a penalty?
Their goalkeeper took it, Hamish McAlpine.
I seem to remember that. Did it hit the post?Didn't they miss a penalty?
Their goalkeeper took it, Hamish McAlpine.
I’m the same as you. How come I’m able to remember stuff about a 0-0 draw in 1976, but can barely remember our last game (coincidentally against Dundee Utd at Ibrox)? If Dundee Utd lost they were relegated. We missed a penalty which kept them up.

Madness isn’t it?I’m the same as you. How come I’m able to remember stuff about a 0-0 draw in 1976, but can barely remember our last game (coincidentally against Dundee Utd at Ibrox)?
I would, but I forget where it is.Join the club.
They were ECWC holders, and we were on our way to winning it.
The 1960 League Cup final.
