I dont think he's even in the running

Are Villas Boas and Fonseca bigger names than Van Bronckhorst?Any chance of us pulling a Fonseca or a Villas Boas out the hat?
I’m happy with Gio but getting a proper ‘big name’ would excite me
Is it an anti English thing maybe.lol.Can’t stand him. Couldn’t stand Gerrard before he joined either mind you and can’t again now he’s left!
Haha, it’s actually not. Just never liked either of those two.Is it an anti English thing maybe.lol.
I’m with you brother but as we say down here in England”never trust a scouser”!Haha, it’s actually not. Just never liked either of those two.
Why, the squad he is taking over is top of the league, the defending champions and in every other competition still in a very strong position. It's gonna be difficult for any potential new manager, consider we haven't a shilling to spend at the minute.
Knutsen, Farke and Blissen?Hopefully the other 2 are Knutsen and Farke.......maybe Blissen?
I can see benefits to them both, but I'd love Knutsen. He clearly can work wonders with low budget squads and have them playing brilliant football, what he can do with our squad has the potential to be frightening. In the three years preceding his job, they got relegated, promoted back up then finished 11th. Since then he has got them 2nd, 1st and oncourse for another 1st. Great record in Europe as well and can clearly develop players. It is a risk but what manager isn't.I’m glad McInnes and Gattuso aren’t on the shortlist.
Will most likely be GVB, Knutsen, Frank Lampard and Dean Smith.
My hope is GVB and Knutsen are the two front runners.
I know we’ve all wanked ourselves into a frenzy regarding GVB, but something is pulling me towards Knutsen as my preferred choice.
Knutsen, Farke and Blissen?
Sounds like 3 of Santa's reindeers
Who is Knutsen manager of?I can see benefits to them both, but I'd love Knutsen. Thanks Mark. Pleased to read all of that.- Rangers have held talks with former player Giovanni van Bronckhorst in London today – with other candidates due to speak to the club this weekend
- Rangers have a shortlist in place as they search for Steven Gerrard’s successor
- I understand former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes plus ex-Rangers player Rino Gatusso are not options being considered by the club
- Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson is leading the search with the club understood to be focused on getting the right fit for the job and not rushing into a decision
Agreed, but there is a more than adequate squad to choose from. It's gonna be difficult for any potential new manager, consider we haven't a shilling to spend at the minute.
Bodo/Glimt. I don't even know if he is a genuine candidate, but he should be.Who is Knutsen manager of?
Genuine question as I’ve probably been a bit too focused on Gio and missed out on this guy
Fckin hope so.McInnes is on the not being considered list,In fact he is number one candidate on the not being considered list.
Going to go have a look, see what he’s aboutBodo/Glimt. I don't even know if he is a genuine candidate, but he should be.
Lampard must be on the list.I think it will be Gio who gets the job but would love to know who the other candidates are
No doubt he’s got qualities as a good manager but I think he’s just way too mental for the Rangers jobWe bit of me disappointed at no Rino. Sometimes you just need someone who gets stabby with a fork.
Exactly, box ticking excercise is all it is. I firmly believe Gio has the job.If I were a media spokesman for Rangers FC, and I knew we were at the final signing stage with the preferred candidate, what would I release to the media? Some sort of statement about talking to a short list of candidates, doing due diligence, no definite decision yet… just enough to cover my arse in case the preferred candidate somehow fell through.
(The opposite of the expectation that Celtic created around Howe.)

I read that statement as: “as long as nothing unexpected happens, GVB will be announced at Ibrox on Monday or Tuesday”.Exactly, box ticking excercise is all it is. I firmly believe Gio has the job.
5pm? It’s not the MyGers ballot. As many of you will be aware, am fully on board the Gio train.
However. I hope the club get this right, and thoroughly take their time and appoint the right person for the job.
Buzzing for the 5pm announcement of Gio.
The 4 bullets in the statement address fans’ talking points:Feel a wee bit for Mcinnes.
Concentrate on who's on the list, not who isnt.
Are those not the names of Santa’s reindeer’s?Hopefully the other 2 are Knutsen and Farke.......maybe Blissen?
ally is spot on. take our time and get the right man .the players will look after themselves for the semi ...we will be well up for this even without a new man
Wonder where they got this.
probably sell a star player for 20 million approx in JanuaryThere will be £4.5m compo from Gerrard and his team leaving, then the wages drop if we dont replace all 6 memebers of staff he took with him
Id imagine we'll sell Goldson in January if hes not signed yet also
im deleting that post :shh:Are those not the names of Santa’s reindeer’s?
I think gio with a Scottish assistant bro or similarIf not GVB, then Lampard.
A foreigner with no link to the British game is asking for bother imo
Why what's he done ?.Hopefully Lampard.
sensible opinion \viewIf I were a media spokesman for Rangers FC, and I knew we were at the final signing stage with the preferred candidate, what would I release to the media? Darn it ,BSIO got in before meim deleting that post :shh:
I haven't seen much of Bodo/Glimt but watched the highlights of the 6-1 vs Roma game there. From that brief footage, his team are very good with quick interchanges on the edge of the box, physically combative and thrive on quick counter attacks. The latter of those perhaps an indication he would take time to adapt to managing Rangers.Going to go have a look, see what he’s about
The man who masterminded their hammering of Roma
We have 7.5 to pay by the end of the season though? I imagine the compo will be going to that. There will be £4.5m compo from Gerrard and his team leaving, then the wages drop if we dont replace all 6 memebers of staff he took with him
Id imagine we'll sell Goldson in January if hes not signed yet also

It's being done with such professionalism that it's a complete shock. The 4 bullets in the statement address fans’ talking points:
1. GVB is the front runner.
2. Just in case, there are alternatives.
3. The names (some) fans are worried about won’t happen.
4. Be patient for a couple of days.
Bang on the money sir.If I were a media spokesman for Rangers FC, and I knew we were at the final signing stage with the preferred candidate, what would I release to the media?
